Greet your guide at your hotel lobby and you'll start the Hanoi street food tour by walking to the corner of Hoan Kiem Lake for the electric bus ride around most of 36 streets in the trading area of Hanoi Old Quarter. Founded in the 11th century, Hanoi Old Quarter nowsaday has 36 streets named after the common products seeling at each street, such as Hang Duong, Hang Bac, Hang Gai, Hang Bong (e.g. Sugar, Silversmith, Silk, Cotton, etc). Although some of streets changed their names, many of those still keep that characteristic today.
Then, walk throughout narrow streets to Dong Xuan market. Along the busy market, numerous street vendors sell a different types of products from fresh seafood to exotic fruits and spices. Your expert English-speaking local guide will give you an insight into the tradition of Vietnamese food culture including details on ingredients and historical backgrounds of popular northern dishes. We eat as we go, trying seasonal fruits and sampling a tasty French-inspired snack from a street cart.
Walking through the maze of bustling streets that make up Hanoi’s Old Quarter, try out the dish of Banh Cuon at a local street food restaurant. Watch in awe as the skilled chefs demonstrate for you how this tasty dish is put together. Continuing into the heart of the Old Quarter, we wander past street stalls and quiet residential lanes where you can see local life that has changed little since Hanoi was founded over 1000 years ago.
Your local guide will then take you to one of Hanoi’s best kept secrets, a hidden cafe with magnificent view over the peaceful Hoan Kiem Lake. This coffee shop is on the high storey of a small and dark alley in the city that still serves egg coffee, a scrumptious local delicacy that we will sample whilst admiring the hustle and bustle of the city centre below. Or, if coffee is not your style, a cold and draugh beer awaits you at Ta Hien street where popular to most locals and backpackages! Stop at Thang Long theatre for Water puppet show to enjoy the most amazing cultural show in Hanoi. At the end of the trip you are free to continue exploring the area or your guide will assist you back to your hotel. End of services!
